The process of creating a Wikispace was very helpful. Often, I think the concept of creating a website is overwhelming and people automatically dismiss it, like I have. Creating this wiki was fun and useful. I can definitely see myself using wiki and embedding multiple types of technology into my lessons. It will be great to share this wiki with my colleagues and encourage them to try one on their own. Although creating the wiki the first time can be a long process the first time, with practice and continued 'play' with the website, it does become easier and a much smoother process.
Working at a 1:1 iPad school and with a generation of students who are so technologically savvy would make the implementation of this type of technology a seemingly easy transition for the students. In addition, having this technology available enables teachers to provide students with homework on snow days and gives students access to the materials, which enables the classroom to move toward becoming paperless. The main thing I like about using a technology like a wiki is that students have the ability to go back and review what we learned in class on their own time. It gives them more responsibility for their learning, which is a good skill to have as they continue their educational careers and eventually move into the job force.
